There's no place I would rather be than at a table, surrounded by delicious food, fantastic music and loved ones.
My love for cooking and the ritual of gathering around a table began next to my grandmother. Within her kitchen, we were ensconced within her own pre-dinner rituals of sorting through dried pinto beans, hands steadily and deftly mold tortilla after tortilla, and seasonings carefully calibrated to pass her muster. These preparations were a warm welcome home each evening, air fragrant and warm. These sentiments, this offering, and this desire to take care of others is what I endeavor to continue through my cooking.
